Chapter 10 of 13

Installing, sharing and updating

How players add your addon by URL or install link, what the consent screen shows them, how updates reach new rooms, and the blocklist.

  • By URL. Players paste your manifest URL in the Eklentilerim tab of CamTable’s Dock, on Discord’s page.
  • By install link. https://camtable.app/install?url=<manifest url> opens CamTable’s consent screen for exactly that manifest (a player without the extension is told so and shown a Chrome Web Store button). Share it in Discord.
  • Consent. Before anything is installed the player sees your addon’s name, its origin, the permissions it requests, who runs the rules (the player who opened the room, who can see hidden information, or your engine’s origin) and a statement that CamTable neither hosts nor reviews it. A friend who joins a room started from your game sees the same one-time prompt, then plays without installing anything; they can decline and stay in the call without the game.
  • Updating. Deploy a new version and bump version. CamTable reads your manifest when players use the catalog, honouring your cache headers. Running rooms are unaffected: they pinned the version they started with. A room whose game asks for a permission or an origin a player has not approved yet prompts that player again.
  • Blocklist. CamTable keeps a remote blocklist of addon origins and manifest URLs. A blocklisted addon cannot be installed, started or joined, running rooms stop loading it, and its engine is never called. Rights holders report an infringing addon by emailing the notice address described in the Terms of Use on the CamTable website; accepted notices become blocklist entries.
